Sailors' Society EAP Application Guidelines

QUALIFICATIONS
The Sailors’ Society Educational Assistance Program (SSEAP) is offered to less-privileged yet deserving individuals who are interested to take a Professional Culinary Arts course in at MIHCA Manila or MIHCA Cebu.

ELIGIBILITY
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
  • At least eighteen (18) years of age, but not to exceed twenty five (25) years of age upon finishing the course 
  • A high school graduate with a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 85% and above
  • With good moral character
  • Parents’ or household’s combined annual income must not exceed PHP 300,000
  • Undertake in writing willingness to work onboard a ship for a minimum period of 3 years from the date of first boarding

REQUIREMENTS (SCANNED COPY)
  • Accomplished Scholarship Application Form
  • Birth Certificate – NSO Certified Copy
  • High School or College Diploma
  • For High school graduate: Form 137
  • For College Level or Graduates: Transcript of Records or any proof of attending a formal education
  • If employed, Certificate of Employment and recent payslip (last 2 months)
  • Latest Income Tax Return (ITR) of the parents or Certificate of Tax Exemption from the BIR – authenticated by BIR or Certification from barangay if unemployed
  • Certificate of Good Moral Character certified by the school authority
  • 2x2 ID picture
  • NBI Clearance
  • Barangay Clearance

Applicants are required to undergo the following examinations administered by an accredited partner of HFI (to be scheduled): 
  • Behavioral and English Assessment Examination; Applicant must meet the 60% passing rate of the English (written) assessment and the English Language competency level must fall in Intermediate or above. 
  • Medical Examination; This consist of urine, stool, x-ray, CBC, drug test, physical and psychological examination.

HFI shall review all valid applications and schedule qualified candidates for the qualifying examination and panel interview with the SSEAP Committee.  The selection shall be based on the following factors:
  • Overall rating of the applicant in the qualifying examination and interview
  • Overall rating of the qualifications based on the eligibility for the SSEAP

Class will start on March 12, 2018. We will inform if there is a change of schedule.
