These sessions sought to open the eyes of participants to various professions which are not popular, yet has value in building national and global economies.
Science
Dr. Henry Ramos, from the University of the Philippines shared his experience in the field of Science.
Agriculture
Mr. David Ballalila, an established Agriculturist and Urban Farmer, promoted the value of an Agricultural profession.
Shipping
Lastly, Chief Engineer Marvin Ban-eg harped on the idea of exploring a future in the Shipping profession, while touring the participants to different facilities and sites within the MIS.
Film Sessions
Film Sessions were held to make participants realize certain uknowns about the professional life locally and internationally.
2 Million Minutes/3 Idiots
The mother and son tandem of Ms. Reyna and Anto Carillo also facilitated film viewing sessions on the movies “3 Idiots” and “2 Million Minutes.” After watching the aforementioned, several workshops ensued to test the knowledge and understanding of our participants to the lessons the films wished to convey.

Devotion
Also, for the second and third days respectively, Mr. Aldean Pablo also started the following days with devotional sessions, rooted in faith, love and prayer.
3rd ANNUAL MAGSAYSAY YOUTH LEADERSHIP CAMP
Homer Foundation Inc. successfully staged the 3rd Annual Magsaysay Youth Leadership Camp last May 27 to 29th, at the Magsaysay Institute of Shipping in Dasmarinas, Cavite. With this year’s theme “Building Capacities, Harnessing Capacities and Creating Possibilities”, the sessions were mainly focused on Leadership, Communications, Team Building and Career Visioning.
A total of 69 participants trooped to the camp, from ages 12-15 and 16-21. 10 volunteers and 20 speakers also helped facilitate the conduct of activities in the 3 day meet.
Welcome Remarks
The participants were greeted warmly by the staff and cadets of the MIS, and were treated to sumptuous meals and excellent accommodations.

Inspirational Message
Ms. Reyna Carillo, Vice President for Community Relations of the HOMER Foundation and Vice President for Recruitment, gave an inspirational message to kick off festivities for the Camp.
Leadership 101, in the Age of Information
During the first day, it was the turn of the Magsaysay top line managers to share their views on important virtues of Leadership, in the age of information.
Commitment
Mr. Arnold Javier, Vice President for Maritime of MMC, shared his expertise on the value of commitment.
Character & Discipline
Meanwhile, Mr. Jay Olivares, General Manager of the National Maritime Container Lines Inc., also gave his thoughts on the value of Character and Discipline.
Passion & Dynamism
Ms. Loida Rivera, Vice President for Finance and Admin. of Magsaysay MOL Marine Inc., discussed the importance of Passion and Dynamism
Respect
Mr. Roberto Garciano, General Manager of PeopleLink, gave his thoughts on having Respect as an important facet of Leadership.
Excellence
Ms. Mabel Cabanayan, Administrative Officer of MIS, at the same time, delivered her take on Excellence.
Social Action
And lastly, Mr. Alfonso Pablo Jr., Executive Director of Homer Foundation, presented the Social Action component of Leadership.
Communications Sessions
The intent of this session was to promote each participant’s sense of self-expression, based on a graduated needs analysis for each age bracket.
Creating Yourself Session
In the ensuing afternoon of the first day, a session on Creating One’s Self was facilitated by SSC EduSoc External Vice President Ms. Lorrie Ann Mascenon
Quad-Media Session
Later in the evening, Mr. Miguel Ortilla, field reporter for Solar TV News, conducted a Quad-Media Session focusing on Understanding and Exploring Traditional and New Forms of Communication.

Mr. Richard Vargas, Secretary General of Youth Philippines, talked about the value of Developing Interpersonal Relations for ages 12-15
Public Speaking & Critical Thinking
Ms. Trishia Octaviano, a former news correspondent at BusinessWorld and former Communications Officer of the I am Ninoy I am Cory Foundation, gave drills and shared techniques on Public Speaking and Critical Thinking for ages 16-21.
Career Visioning Sessions
This session sought to provide an experiential narrative of professional life to our participants

Ms. Beth Florentino, General Manager of MagCoop, gave the first talk and an overview of the jobs market.
Perspective from a Young Professional
Lastly, Ms. Paula Bianca Lapuz, regular Panelist in ABS-CBN”s “The Bottomline”, gave an inspirational message to the youth on career building and the professional life.

Ms. Jill Reyes, Sourcing and Talent Pool Manager of the Magsaysay Recruitment Team, gave interactive workshops on Career Visioning
Team Building Session
The following morning of the Second Day, Mr. Lem Policarpio, Dean of Students of the MIS, spearheaded the Team Building Session, along with the cadets of the MIS.
Teams were divided into four- The Yellow, Green, Red and Orange teams.
They were asked to do four activities, as seen in the photos below. And to culminate the team building workshop, all participants were asked to work together as one team in climbing the 20 foot high wall.
