Magsaysay Joins Outreach Program


As part of its CSR initiatives, Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC) participated in an outreach activity spearheaded by Magsaysay Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MAGCOOP) and PeopleServe Service Cooperative. Held at Barangay Tanza, Navotas last June 11, 2016, the activity was done in cooperation with Habitat for Humanity - Philippines, Homer Foundation, Inc. (HFI), MMC’s Crew and Family Affairs Department, Magsaysay People's Club - Manila, CarePoint Medical, Diagnostic, and Wellness Clinic, Health Hub Pharmacy, Fairmont Wives Club, and MC Shipping Wives Club. Magsaysay Holds Bloodletting Program 2016


​Magsaysay, in cooperation with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and St. Luke’s Medical Center Global, held a simultaneous Bloodletting Program last August 4, 2016 in Magsaysay and Times Plaza Buildings. 

The bloodletting activity, which was spearheaded by Homer Foundation, Inc. and Magsaysay HSES Department, encouraged MPs to share the gift of life through blood donation. The 6-hour blood donation drive yielded a total of 78 blood bags which were turned over to PRC. 

MPs availed of free health and wellness services such as body massage and facial cleansing from Skin and Body Essentials; eye check-up from Top Optical; and nutrition counselling from Fit and Strong Wellness Hub. 

Since 2005, Magsaysay has been advocating for voluntary blood donations to ensure adequate blood supply for the country.

Magsaysay Holds Papercrafts Livelihood
​Series Program

Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC), in cooperation with Homer Foundation, Inc. (HFI), and its Crew and Family Affairs Department, staged the first phase of its Paper Crafts Livelihood Series Program last July 23, 2016 at Robert Hall, Ermita, Manila. 

The half-day event was targeted towards creating a sustainable livelihood opportunity for Magsaysay employees, crew, and allotees. Lilibeth Javilanar of JB Paper Crafts spearheaded the training on product design, costing and development, after which 200 participants learned how to create decorative home pieces and accessories out of recycled materials. “This is not only an entrepreneurial activity, but also a fun and creative way of reducing one’s carbon footprint and spending quality time with the family,” said Alfonso A. Pablo Jr., HFI Executive Director and MMC – Crew and Family Affairs Department Head.

​Homer Foundation, Inc. in partnership with Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC) and Magsaysay Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MAGCOOP), conducted the Negosenso 2016: Magsaysay Entrepreneurship Expo and Forum last September 24, 2016 at Robert Hall, Times Plaza Building, Ermita, Manila. The forum is conducted annually to create entrepreneurs out of Magsaysay crew and allottees. 
  
The forum was spearheaded by Go Negosyo, an advocacy of the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship that encourages Filipinos to engage in entrepreneurship. Go Negosyo successful entrepreneurs highlighted three major topics, including Entrepreneurship Mindset by Jorge Noel Wieneke, Opportunity Spotting by Victor Madlangbayan, and Marketing 101 by Carlo Calimon. 
  
Joining the 250 Magsaysay crew and allottees were Alfonso A. Pablo, Jr., Crew and Family Relations Head of MMC; Rommel V. Villasfer, Operations Manager of MAGCOOP; and Marilyn B. Pacete, Crew and Family Relations Operations Manager of MMC.

Magsaysay Wins the Asia CEO Heart for OFWs Company of the Year Award

​Magsaysay People Resources Corporation (MPRC) received the Heart for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) Company of the Year Award during the Asia CEO Awards held last October 18, 2016 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom, Pasay City, Philippines. The award, sponsored by i-Remit Global Remittance, recognized MPRC’s People Development Strategy that is best spelled by its holistic, 360-degree approach to the learning, growth, and development of seafarers, families and communities. 
  
MPRC was represented by Arnold B. Javier, President of Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC); Alexander E. Querol, President of Magsaysay Learning Resources, Inc. (MLRI); Nori M. Leonidas, Cruise Group Head of MMC; Alfonso A. Pablo, Jr., Crew and Family Relations Head of MMC; and Angel B. Sagrado, Communications Officer of MMC. Nominated with MPRC were LBC, PJ Lhuillier and Sta. Lucia Land.
